On 15 June 2026, the SUSDEST-NET project (BSB00884, Interreg NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme) held a
stakeholder consultation meeting in Limanu Commune, the project’s pilot destination on the Romanian
Black Sea coast.
Local authorities, tourism operators, and community representatives from the four villages — Limanu, 2
Mai, Vama Veche, and Hagieni — joined the discussion to help shape a sustainable tourism strategy for
the area. Participants shared local priorities, challenges, and opportunities for developing tourism that
protects the natural and cultural heritage of the coast while supporting the local economy.
The consultation combined a presentation of the project and its sustainability indicators with an open
dialogue and a structured questionnaire, giving every participant a direct channel to contribute. The input
gathered will directly inform the sustainable tourism strategy currently under development for Limanu
Commune.
The meeting marks an important step in the project’s participatory approach, ensuring that those who
know the destination best have a voice in shaping its future.
